Our Guide Centre was established in Green Road in the seventies and has seen long and useful service with a couple of hundred girls using it on a weekly basis for the last 44 years.

The building is now expensive to run and maintain, the prefabricated structure is degrading and needs extensive work to extend its life and improve accessibility to less able bodied members of the community.

We need to provide modern facilities for a wider range of people, an improved layout & greater levels of comfort, accessibility & acoustic deadening as well as being more energy efficient. We want to provide a safe, inspiring and innovative environment where our young people can have fun, learn, discover and grow into confident young women.

We used to do a lot of recycling (toner & ink cartridges, jewellery, CDs, mobile phones, used clothing etc). However we found it more and more hassle for less and less money.

Thanks to everyone (particularly Alison Aust for suggesting us) who voted for us in the Kumho Cash for Causes Competition, we actually received £5,350.. Thrilled..

Below - view the video commissioned by Smoking Gun Public Relations
on behalf of Kumho Tyres.

We also tried for the Lloyd's Community Fund of £3,000 - suggested by Alison Cook AND again thanks to all who voted. However despite finishing first in the online vote unfortunately we dropped to third place once the in-branch votes were added. But all was not lost. We were still awarded £300 towards the Rebuilding fund. Thank you Lloyds Bank.

KAOS very kindly donated £1,000 from their Christmas Charity Concert
and then -- another £300 as our share of the retiring collection.
Thank you Peggy Harwood for sorting all this for us -- and thank you KAOS.

Through Becky Hinton, Oxford Learning chose Girlguiding Kidlington as their charity for June. The 'likes' of their facebook page have been added up and we will receive £171.50 from them. Thank you to Oxford College and to Becky.
