WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT - please!

We're REBUILDING KIDLINGTON GUIDE CENTRE

Our Guide Centre was established in Green Road in the seventies and had seen long and useful service with a couple of hundred girls using it on a weekly basis for the last 44 years.

The building became more and more expensive to run and maintain, the prefabricated structure degraded and it became vital to provide accessibility to less able bodied members of the community.

We needed to provide modern facilities for a wider range of people, an improved layout & greater levels of comfort, accessibility & acoustic deadening as well as being more energy efficient. We want to provide a safe, inspiring and innovative environment where our young people can have fun, learn, discover and grow into confident young women.

So in January 2018 after over a decade of fundraising we demolished our building and are now in the process of rebuilding.

See our Project page to get an update on our PLANS and how we're progressing!!

The Doris Field Trust have just given us £1,000 towards the cupboards. Many thanks.

Another Grant received - we asked for £130 to cover the cost of the extractor hood and were granted £1,000 from this anonomous donor. Amazing. THANK YOU! xx

Just got another £738.92 from Midcounties Co-operative towards the cost of the flooring AND they match funded all our LED lighting. They's given us their unstinting support all the way along our journey. Thank you Michelle, Ryan and all the rest of you at the Co-op!!

Received a Grant from the Leslie Sell Trust for £500 towards the cost of the cooker. Thank you Trustees... xx

The donation was as a result of a massive year of fundraising by Maurice, who raised over £19,000, which he donated to five local Charities. (See link below.) Thank you -- we're incredibly grateful to be included. Rebuild_Maurice_15.5.18.jpg

We used to do a lot of recycling (toner & ink cartridges, jewellery, CDs, mobile phones, used clothing etc). However we found it more and more hassle for less and less money.

ANOTHER WAY WE RAISE MONEY IS THROUGH PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

Thanks to everyone (particularly Alison Aust for suggesting us) who voted for us in the Kumho Cash for Causes Competition, we actually received £5,350.. Thrilled..

Below - view the video commissioned by Smoking Gun Public Relations
on behalf of Kumho Tyres.

We also tried for the Lloyd's Community Fund of £3,000 - suggested by Alison Cook AND again thanks to all who voted. However despite finishing first in the online vote unfortunately we dropped to third place once the in-branch votes were added. But all was not lost. We were still awarded £300 towards the Rebuilding fund. Thank you Lloyds Bank.
